Took a walk around Pagham Harbour today, (we started at Pagham Rife rather than the RSPB Harbour side), and decided to do a cache along the way. It's called Pagham View! It's size is Micro and it's more of a cache for those experienced with the ways of clever hiding spots. The weather has suddenly turned sunny and warmer so it actually made a nicer walk than the ones we've been doing over the winter getting freezing hands and runny noses.
This is the "start" of Pagham Harbour, the Geocache was 200m from this spot. Along the left hand side of the image you can see a wall, the path towards the cache was along there, the path is still accessable even when the tide is in. There is a footpath along the road nearby which acts as a short cut if you aren't happy with the closeness of water or very muddy shoes!
This is the spot we reached that the location of the cache can be found, the clue was that it would send you nutty. One of the logs said that "Bolty loved it" so you can guess that it would definitely be hiding within a bolt on the gate.
It was very cleverly hidden, you had to unscrew this bolt and the other end worked as a cap with space inside for the log, looking at the fence as a regular walker you'd never ever assume it was anything but a bolt. It was a very pointless bolt though so it's the only real give away that it could be a cache.
Unfortunately the log inside was completely wet and ruined. I didn't bring tweezers so it wasn't even worth trying to retrieve this cache log. We just screwed it back where we found it and let the owner know it required some major maintenance! Pagham Harbour is always nice for a walk even if you don't do any caches. There is another cache about 0.7 miles away following the main footpath back on the bridge we started at. It's about 15 minutes from this cache and we do plan to go back and find it another time! Sadly there aren't any other caches nearby in walking distance but it makes for a nice walk.
